The Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society received an unexpected donation today.
Marguerite Causey died in her seventies nearly two years ago.
She decided to take her money and donate it to local charities.
On Monday, the Humane Society received $5,000 from Causey's estate.
Executive Director Lorri Hare says she didn't know Causey, but is grateful the shelter was thought of.
"There are so many people that are animal lovers that we may not have a tie to personally but they know that we try to save as many lives as possible and that truly would not be. You know, we would not be able to do that without our community and hopefully she knows that we'll try and stretch that money as far as we can and save as many lives as possible," Hare says.
Hare says the Humane Society is run solely off grants and donations and depends heavily on the community's support.
