METCALFE COUNTY, Ky. -- The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 2 says it is investigating an early morning crash that claimed the life of a Bowling Green woman.
The accident occurred at 6:28 Friday morning along the Cumberland Parkway near mile marker 32.
According to Officer Bryan Jones, a 2002 Honda passenger car operated by Paula McMahan of Bowling Green was traveling eastbound on the parkway when it left the roadway, entered the median, and became airborne.
The vehicle then entered the westbound travel lanes and hit a semi tractor and trailer.
They say McMahan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The operator of the commercial vehicle was transported to TJ Sampson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Westbound lanes of the parkway were closed for an extended period of time, but reopened Friday afternoon.
KSP says seatbelts were in use by operators of both vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation.
