MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police in Memphis put handcuffs on a suspect within a half-hour of a boy being shot at a Beale Street fireworks show.
Police found 18-year-old Tashun Jenkins trying to take off a red shirt and hat he was wearing Thursday night.
Police said a witness had seen Jenkins and another man firing into the crowd. One of the shots struck a 13-year-old boy. The witness ran into the crowd, picked up the boy and carried him to police. The witness also gave a full description of the shooter.
Authorities said the boy was struck in the leg and was in non-critical condition at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
Police said Jenkins' hands tested positive for gunshot residue.
