A Butler County man who admits to killing a dog, has been indicted.
31 year old Bennie Neal told police in July that he beat the dog into a tree after accidentally hitting it with a car. Less than a month later, he was charged with assault for stabbing a man. The victim said it happened during an argument about the dog.
In addition to second degree assault, Neal is now charged with torturing a dog or cat with serious physical injury or death. The Commonwealth's Attorney for the 38th circuit, Tim Coleman, says if Neal is convicted of the assault, dog torture, alcohol intoxication in public, and resisting arrest, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
