California Chrome Is Back Home, But With An Injury

(WBKO)-- --California Chrome was not able to take home the Triple Crown this weekend, and on top of that the horse went home with an injury.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner had a chunk of flesh torn from his right foot after bumping with Matterhorn leaving the starting gate in the Belmont Stakes.

Matterhorn was next to California Chrome in the gate Saturday.

Trainer Art Sherman says California Chrome's foot should heal in two to three weeks.

Chrome's Co-Owner Steve Coburn made some controversial comments after Saturdays race.

He was angry that Belmont Winner Tonalist didn't run in either of the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

California Chrome the three-year-old stag just couldn't go the distance finishing fifth.
