Police say Captain D's restaurant in Franklin was robbed Friday morning.
It happened at about 8:10.
Police say a man, waited outside the restaurant for employees to arrive, then pulled a handgun on them.
That's when the suspect had an employee remove money from a safe and forced them into a walk-in freezer.
The employees were trapped for about 10 minutes, until one of them was able to call 911 from their cell phone.
The suspect also stole the restaurant manager's Nissan Xterra SUV and fled from the scene.
The vehicle was found a few hours later at a nearby restaurant on Jefferson Street.
The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie under a black windbreaker and a white scarf.
He's described as an African-American, six-foot-one, in his late 20's or early 30's.
