BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - South Central Kentucky has been put in the national spotlight thanks to a reality show on the Discovery Channel.
Some of the cast from "Backyard Oil" appeared on the Tony Rose Show Tuesday morning. The reality show is shot in Adair County and features the crew traveling around the state looking for oil. Although it's rare to find oil in someone's backyard the cast says drilling is big business.
"It doesn't happen very often, but it does. Like Travis, he was drilling in his front yard and hit a big well and we have hit oil in several back yards," says Jimmy Reliford.
"We have to read maps and study the formation and stuff to pick our right spots so we travel all over Kentucky," says Mad Dog.
"You lose a lot of freaking money. I've seen people come in Cadilliacs and hitch hike home. Lose all of their money. It's a gamble just like playing poker," says Rascal.
Tuesday night is the season finale of Backyard Oil. It will air at 9 p.m. on the Discovery Channel.
The cast is hopeful the show will be picked up for another season.
