UPDATED 12:15 PM (7/14/14) -- Brenda Hardin was released from the Muhlenberg Community Hospital on Saturday. She's now being held in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

CENTRAL CITY, Ky (WBKO) -- A Central City man is found dead and police have charged his ex-wife with murder.

Just two nights ago, this Central City home was a crime scene full of policemen and investigators. Monday night, Kentucky State Police responded to this home on West Whitmer Street. Police found 64-year-old Ronnie Hardin, dead inside of a garage type building, sitting next to a house he used to call home.

"There was an out-building there, if you would like to call it maybe a “shop” where he worked on golf clubs. That is what it appears he was doing at the time this incident took place," said Stu Recke, Kentucky State Police.

Authorities say, preliminary autopsy results show Hardin died of a single gun shot wound. Through the course of investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for the victim's ex-wife, 61-year-old Brenda Hardin.

"Yesterday she was served with an arrest warrant. She is charged with “murder-domestic violence” and “tampering with physical evidence”," said Stu Recke, Kentucky State Police.

Police say she fled the scene before officials arrived.

"She went to a family member's residence. While she was at the family members residence, her condition got worse. So, they in turn called an ambulance for her. We are still trying to work at the details as far as the time line goes. Several local agencies were looking for the victim. They thought there might have been harm to the victim, and that is when he was discovered," said Stu Recke, Kentucky State Police.

Officials say Brenda Hardin was taken to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, due to taking multiple prescription medications.

"She is currently in the ICE at Muhlenberg County Hospital and is under guard by the KSP," said Stu Recke, Kentucky State Police.

After Brenda Hardin is released from the hospital, police say she will be taken to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

Officials say the two have been divorced for nearly a year. Police believe Brenda Hardin was currently living in the home, while her ex-husband lived elsewhere in Central City.

The home where the incident took place, is currently up for sale.
