Ceremony Held for Groundbreaking of New Downtown Building

"I have a dream for a downtown Bowling Green that stays up past nine o'clock at night. I'd like to see more lights, music, food, culture and I hope that this building is able to provide some of that and enhance what's already down here," said Dan Murph, the developer.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) Several elected officials were among those who gathered downtown for the groundbreaking of The Stratford.

On the corner of 7th Avenue and College Street about four o'clock this afternoon, people heard the plans for the new four-story structure.

The 15,000 square-foot building will have luxury apartments and suites, office space, retail space and more.

Finally, the shovels came out and ground was broken.

"I have a dream for a downtown Bowling Green that stays up past nine o'clock at night. I'd like to see more lights, music, food, culture and I hope that this building is able to provide some of that and enhance what's already down here," said Dan Murph, the developer.

"Right here next door to SKyPAC, right across the street from the ballpark, close to all the restaurants and the downtown businesses. This is going to be a major new attraction to downtown," said Mike Buchanon, the Warren County Judge-Executive.

The developer says the project should be completed within a year.
