Local Candidates at Chamber of Commerce Monday Afternoon

Monday was a chance for local candidates to talk with people as part of their campaign.

The event at the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce featured the candidates of the 20th district house race, almost all of the Bowling Green City Commission candidates and some unopposed candidates.

For long time democrat incumbent Jody Richards, this is just a small part of what he's been doing for awhile.

"I'm going to campaign until the last minute. I'm going to continue going door to door. I've been doing that for three and a half months, and I'm going to continue to do that, and we're going to increase our campaign in every detail. I'm really pleased with the way it's going," said Richards.

His challenger is republican small business owner, Regina Webb.

She's also been knocking on doors, and plans to go up until the end as well.

"There's going to be campaigning until the last minute. I'm still knocking on doors, calling people, meeting people everywhere I go. I'm in a campaign mode everyday every minute," said Webb.

While both candidates may be in campaign mode, they're focused on what they want to do in Frankfort for this area and Kentucky.

"I've got some bills prepared for jobs to try to create more jobs. Second thing of course, is education. I've got some education bills too, and will work there," said Richards.

"One of the most important things is of course the economy, and creating jobs for people. I want to work on a comprehensive tax reform, and I also want to work on the pension system," said Webb.

They both know what they want to do, but whether they get to tackle these issues is up to you.

This is the first time Richards has had an opponent since 1990.

Webb previously ran for a state senate seat, but lost in the primary to eventual state senator, Mike Wilson.
