UPDATE: 19 Children Left Alone In Bowling Green Home

Updated: Thu 11:02 PM, Jul 05, 2012

Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies made a shocking discovery late Monday night at a home on Kingston Way.

"Deputies went to the scene and they actually ended up locating 19 children there. They ranged in ages from 8 months all the way up to 14 years of age," says Tim Robinson of the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Those children were living with no food, no air conditioning, and no supervision. Deputies say the conditions inside were not suitable for living. The children were taken to The Medical Center and have been released into protective custody.

As for the parents deputies have been in contact with them.

"They are supposedly on their way back to Kentucky. The reason they left the residence is what they say is a family emergency," says Robinson.

The couple apparently ran into car problems which caused the week long absence. Neighbor Annie Adams doesn't buy that story.

"I do not believe that story. I don't believe that story because of things that have happened in the past. And the kind of people they are I just don't believe that," says Adams.

Adams reported the home two weeks ago. At that time only 10 children were found inside. She is frustrated it took so long for police to finally take action.

"So I call about these kids and they come out here and they don't do anything. So what happens? You're not going to do anything until one of them gets severely hurt or killed. I just think it’s ridiculous. As a parent it's ridiculous," says Adams.

Adams also claims she has had trouble with these neighbors in the past. She fears retaliation and says she is forced to move her family.

"All this conflict in the neighborhood and what’s happening with these people is actually going to force us out of our house and to me that's not fair," says Adams.

Sheriffs say 9 dogs and 1 cat were also discovered in the home.

Late Tuesday afternoon Jackie Farrah was arrested and charged with 14 counts of criminal abuse and 5 counts of wanton endangerment.

UPDATE: Jackie Farah is in jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

The 32-year-old mother is charged with 19 felonies: 14 counts of first degree criminal abuse and five counts of first degree wanton endangerment.

The charges stem from the 19 children Farah is accused of leaving in a house with no air conditioning, no food, and no water for a week.

Farah pleaded "not guilty" at her arraignment before Warren District Judge Brent Potter Thursday morning.

She's due back in court July 9th for her preliminary hearing to determine if her case will be bound over to the grand jury.

Warren County Attorney Amy Milliken says the 19 children are in the care of family court.
