Official testing has confirmed the water is safe and does not need to be boiled before consumption.

ELKTON, Ky. (WBKO) -- The city of Elkton is under a boil water advisory for at least 48 hours or until further notice.

City officials sent information out Tuesday about the advisory.

In a release, Elkton officials said customers should be advised that water provided by the system may cause adverse human health effects due to possible biological contamination.
