Coates Appointed to National Committee

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- U.S. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has appointed Spencer Coates, of Bowling Green, to serve on the National Commission on Hunger.

Spencer Coates is currently President of Houchens Industries, headquartered in Bowling Green.

Coates also serves on the board of directors of the National Grocers' Association.

The new Commission is made up of ten people selected by members of Congressional leadership, and will make recommendations to Congress and the Secretary of Agriculture on how to modernize and improve federal government food assistance programs.
