Coats For Kids Needs Help, As Coats Fly Out the Door

By Brett Baldeck |

It may not feel like it now but with winter chill will eventually make its way to our area.

The Bowling Green Junior Woman's Club held its second distribution of coats as part of this years Coats for Kids. But by 11 a.m. Tuesday the group had run out of coats and children's coats were gone in 20 minutes.

Organizers say a cold forecast for this winter has more coats going out the door.

"Last year we had a very warm winter I think we gave out about 900 coats. This year it is already colder than I think it was last year so that is another reason why we are giving so many out. We've already given over 1,000 coats out and we still have our third distribution day left," says Amanda Nivens.

The club hopes to have more coats before their final distribution in December.

Coats can be dropped off at The Bowling Green Police Department and various locations around Bowling Green until December 1.
