Cold Murder Case has TN Police Seeking New Tips

By AP |

COLUMBIA, Tenn. -- Authorities in Columbia are asking for public help in solving a cold case killing.

George Barrett Dugger died Aug. 27, 2008, and an investigation found he had been fatally stabbed. Dugger's body was found in his burning home. A medical examiner found Dugger -- known to his family and friends as "J.J." -- had not inhaled soot or smoke, meaning he was dead before the fire was set.

Columbia police are investigating the death as a first-degree murder and aggravated arson.

More than two years later, the body of Dugger's uncle was found shot several times in the front seat of his car. That killing has not been solved, either.

Tips should be phoned to the Maury County Sheriff's Detective Division at (931) 375-8693.
