Commonwealth Attorney Discusses New Human Trafficking Law

One new law is aimed at strengthening the prosecution of human trafficking in Kentucky.

One area Commonwealth's Attorney supported House Bill 3, saying it will strengthen existing laws by protecting young victims from being charged with crimes they were forced to commit.

"The primary focus of the bill is to make sure children who are victims of human trafficking have services provided to them as quickly and efficiently as possible, taking the criminal element out of it for the children who are used many times for criminal purposes, and working toward getting the children the help they need," said Warren County Commonwealth's Attorney Chris Cohron.

Added help for victims will come in the form of a human trafficking victims' fund and agencies responsible for aiding victims.
