BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --The Commonwealth Health Corporation finished its Stuff the Turkey food drive today.
The corporation collected 6,000 food items for the Salvation Army in Bowling Green. Salvation Army personnel say this was more than expected, and will help provide a large part of the Thanksgiving meal they plan to serve to at least 800 people this year.
"We had ordered some things we were going to stuff Christmas boxes with, and we were going to have to get into our supply to be able to feed for Thanksgiving, so this was an answered prayer. I mean, they brought in the things we were really needing," said Salvation Army's Rhonda Avery.
Avery says Thanksgiving dinner will be served at the Salvation Army from 11a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. CHC employees at the Scottsville and Franklin medical centers also took part in the food drive, and donated those items to charities in their communities.
