The New Jersey woman known as "tan mom," who was accused of child endangerment after allegedly letting her 5yr old daughter use a tanning bed, has inspired a new tanning law signed by Governor Chris Christie.
It prohibits minors under the age of 17 from using commercial tanning beds in the state. It also bans those under 14 from using any spray tanning procedures in tanning facilities.
New Jersey joins California and Vermont in banning indoor tanning by minors.
As for tan mom, a New Jersey grand jury declined to indict her back in February. Governor Christie says the child was not permanently injured and the salon was fined by the State Department of Health.
