County To Pay Legal Fees for Law Officials

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) -- In Barren County, public officials voted to pay the legal fees of three county law enforcement officials.

The Barren County Fiscal Court voted to pay for the legal costs of sheriff's deputies Bobby McCown and Aaron Bennett and also Drug Task Force Detective Eric Guffey.

The county will be paying a little more than $61,000.

Judge-Executive Davie Greer says it was a unanimous decision they voted in because two were found not guilty. McCown was charged, but they were dropped and he never went to trial.

This stems from the case where they were charged with the beating of Billy Ray Stinnett and cover-up of it a few years back.

Former Sheriff Chris Eaton was found guilty of lying to investigators in this case.
