Crime Stoppers: Captain D's Armed Robbery

By Gene Birk |

The Franklin Police Department is investigating an armed robbery of the Captain D's on South Main Street.

Police say just after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19th, employees were arriving for work when they were approached by an armed man. The man pointed his gun at the employees and ordered them into the restaurant.

Once inside, the robber had an employee remove the money from a safe, then forced all three employees into a walk-in freezer.

The thief then used the manager's Nissan Xterra as the get-a-way car. Police found the SUV at the intersection of Jefferson Street and John J. Johnson Avenue.

The thief is described as a black male with a slim build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt under a black windbreaker type jacket. He used a white scarf to cover the lower part of his face, and appeared to be in his late 20's to early 30's. Witnesses say he was approximately 6'1" and weighed about 180 pounds.
