Deer Crashes into Wendy's in Glasgow

By Melissa Warren |

Broken window glass was what managers at an area Wendy's" found early Wednesday morning in a scene that looked like a break-in.

Surveillance video from Wednesday morning shows a deer busting through the side door of Wendy's. Luckily the store had not opened and no real customers were inside, but one employee caught the action from just a few feet away.

"All of a sudden I saw a big buck run out from behind the dumpster. It jumped out and ran around through the parking lot here, and the next thing I know, It got to the door and turned around looking at the store, and it jumped right through the window," said Jason Brown, Wendy's Employee.

Much to the surprise of the managers in the back, the deer busted through the glass window in the front of the restaurant leaving a trail of glass.

"She said Jason... Jason! There's a deer in the lobby! Well, I saw it come in, and was going to come in and help, but the deer jumped out the window," said Brown.

The deer didn't escape without a struggle.

"He went straight to the window over there and tried to get out right between those two doors, and I guess he didn't succeed, so he turned around and jumped out the window in the green room," said Brown.

Police were eventually called to assess the damage, and Brown says they were amazed at what happened.

""They said it's a once in a lifetime thing. They'd seen it on TV, but it'd never happened in real life," said Brown.

It's back to business as usual here at Wendy's but this incident goes to show you never know what to expect when dealing with a hungry animal. Wendy's says both of the broken windows have been replaced, and the deer is no where to be found.
