The Department of Highways prepared salt trucks earlier today for the expected sleet and snow.
Chief District Engineer Greg Meredeth says its always important to prepare for winter weather even if its not as bad as expected.
He says the department started putting salt brine out on the roads earlier this afternoon, and if needed will continue later tonight.
"In this particular case it looks like that we're right on the freeze line right around 32 degrees pretty much for the whole event so we're going to go on and be proactive and put the salt brine out on the roadways to help prevent any icing or precipitation from bonding to the pavement," Meredith says.
He hopes the roadways will be coated by the time the expected sleet starts falling.
