Deputy Shoots Man, Then Gives Him CPR

A Nelson County deputy shoots an man with a gun, then tries to save his life.

State police say at 2:57 p.m. Thursday, they answered a call for back-up from the Nelson County Sheriff's Office. A deputy had responded to a property dispute complaint at 2125 Monks Road in New Haven.

KSP says he was met on the porch by 61-year-old John Hagan who pointed a gun at him. The deputy fired one time, hitting Hagan in the chest. Then he administered CPR until EMS arrived. Hagan is in critical condition at University Hospital in Louisville.

As is customary, KSP is investigating the shooting.
