Authorities in the Bluegrass region have found dozens of animals dead at a barn.
WKYT-TV in Lexington reported 16 horses, a donkey and several chickens, dogs and cats were found in barn stalls and in trailers nearby on Monday.
Sgt. Keith Broughton of the Woodford County Sheriff's Office said some of the animals appear to have been dead for several months. Broughton said the woman who leases the farm might have been trying to rescue abandoned animals. No charges were immediately filed.
Investigators also found some horses alive and are trying to place them with people who will care for them.
