Several dozen Kentucky State Police officers are sporting higher ranks following a ceremony in Frankfort.

State police say two KSP majors, 10 captains, 11 lieutenants and 23 sergeants were commissioned at the ceremony Friday.

Also commissioned were three Commercial Vehicle Enforcement captains, three lieutenants and four sergeants.

One of the two new majors is Merrell J. Harrison. He's being transferred from command of Post 14 in Ashland to command of the East Troop at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. Harrison is a 21-year KSP veteran.

The other new major is Lyndol S. Miller. He's being transferred from command of Post 11 in London to command of the Administrative Division, Professional Support Troop at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. Miller has been with state police for 14 years.
