PAINTSVILLE, KY (AP) -- An eastern Kentucky man has pleaded guilty to murdering his parents, whose bodies were found buried on their farm five months after they disappeared last year.
Prosecutors say Willie Blanton pleaded guilty Friday to two counts each of murder and tampering with physical evidence and multiple counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft. The Lawrence County commonwealth's attorney's office says the latter counts relate to forged checks, stolen livestock, and an attempt to have Blanton's father's prescription for a controlled substance refilled after he disappeared.
The bodies of Larry and Sandra Blanton were found in Johnson County in February. The case was moved to Lawrence County due to pretrial publicity.
Blanton is to return to court Monday for sentencing. Prosecutors are recommending life in prison without parole.
