HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A judge has sentenced a former Fort Campbell soldier convicted of killing his daughter to 30 years in prison.

Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self handed down the sentence on Wednesday for 24-year-old Charles Timothy Morris.

A jury in western Kentucky took less than 90 minutes to convict Morris last month of murder in the death of his 3-year-old daughter, Alayna Adair, and the panel recommended the 30-year sentence.

Alayna died July 2, 2011 of blunt force trauma to the head.

Morris has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.
