“It is a great honor to be inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame, and I want to thank the many fine reporters, colleagues, and outstanding student interns who worked with me at WKU Public Radio over the years,” Dan Modlin said.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Dan Modlin, who recently retired as news director at WKU Public Radio, will be inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame. He is one of five new members who will be honored at a ceremony in Lexington on April 23.
Modlin is a native of Indiana who grew up in a broadcasting family. A graduate of Ball State University, he worked for several years in the news network business in the Midwest, specializing in agricultural and political coverage, before coming to WKU Public Radio. He served as news director for 23 years.
“It is a great honor to be inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame, and I want to thank the many fine reporters, colleagues, and outstanding student interns who worked with me at WKU Public Radio over the years,” Modlin said. “I was blessed to work with a lot of good people. We worked very hard to provide fair, informative coverage of a lot of issues that were impacting the lives of people in the region.”
“And on a personal note, this means a lot to my family. My father taught me the importance of credibility and ethics in journalism and he was inducted into the Indiana Broadcaster's Hall of Fame several years ago. I think he would have been very pleased by this announcement.”
Modlin’s work at WKU Public Radio contributed to numerous national and state awards for documentary production, public affairs reporting, and enterprise reporting.
The honorees will join 184 other journalists inducted into the Hall of Fame since its 1981 inception. The Hall of Fame ceremony is sponsored by the University of Kentucky School of Journalism and Telecommunications Alumni Association.
