"So this building that sold is our fourth building and we were able to sell that in less than a year."

More exciting changes are coming to the Kentucky Transpark. With the announcement last week that Austria based Alpla is opening a manufacturing operation, local leaders say Bowling Green continues to be a destination for expanding businesses.

"Another international company coming to Bowling Green is a great testament to what we do here to attract businesses and jobs. 72 jobs that's wonderful, $22 million that's wonderful," says Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson.

Officials say much of that attractiveness comes from the Transpark with 900 acres of land, shovel ready lots and already established structures scattered throughout.

Alpla will be moving its new facility into a freshly built "spec" building.

"At the Transpark we have partnered with the Bowling Green Economic Development Authority, which is a private non-profit, to build speculative buildings. So this building that sold is our fourth building and we were able to sell that in less than a year," says Ron Bunch, President & CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber on Commerce.

Bunch says that quick momentum to bring business in may be a sign of more to come.

"Our project inventory, the existing expansions that we are working on with new companies, is picking up so we fully expect to have several more announcements in the next 90 days," says Bunch.

Some additional work still needs to be done on the building but Alpla plans to be moved in sometime this summer.
