Fire During Thunderstorm Kills 2 In Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- An elderly man and a young woman have died in a Louisville house fire near Churchill Downs.

WLKY-TV (http://bit.ly/Mz7syu ) reported the blaze broke out in the midst of thunderstorms that raked the city Thursday evening. Neighbors told arriving firefighters two people were still inside the home. Because of the intensity of the fire, authorities said it was difficult to locate the victims.

Rescuers said the older man was bedridden. The younger woman was taken to a hospital, but died there of her injuries.

Fire inspectors will review the blaze, but it appeared it was started by a lightning strike.
