BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Compton Orthodontics announced on their Facebook page that their building was a total loss.

They say lightening was the cause of the fire.

The post says, "We are sorry to say that our new Bowling Green office has been lost to a fire caused by a lightening strike this morning at 3 am. While we are saddened, we are optimistic and our commitment to provide excellent care to all of our patients is our primary focus. In the coming weeks we will have temporary facilities with the long term goal of a new office in 6-12 months. We will reschedule all patients in the next few days as soon as facilities become available. Please bear with us during this difficult and transitional time. We are so thankful for all of the thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness we have received today. We are truly blessed to have the best patients, families, and friends at our practice and you are greatly appreciated."

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A Bowling Green orthodontics office caught fire around four o'clock Monday morning, causing many patients to be displaced.

The fire department says the blaze started in the attic at Compton Orthodontics, just off Lover's Lane.

Along with the weather, officials say fighting the flames was a bit of a challenge because they would often go into void spaces.

Although the cause of the fire is not known at this time, officials say they plan to help the business recover.

"They've got a lot of patients to try to take care of and make sure they're accommodated. So, it's devastating to them. We certainly feel for them. We're doing all that we can to try to ease that for them," says Marlee Boenig of the Bowling Green Fire Department.

The office manager says they plan to contact their patients, it may just take some time.

They say they are searching for an alternative office.

The business moved to this location in April 2010.
