GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) -- A Kentucky man's nighttime fishing excursion ended with his rescue while his boat was teetering on the edge of a dam.
Scott County fire department chief Mike Fuller says the man was plucked from the boat during the predawn rescue Tuesday on North Elkhorn Creek near Georgetown in central Kentucky. He says the fishing boat was stuck on a log that kept it from going over the 6- to 8-foot-tall dam.
Fuller didn't have the man's name and says he was unhurt.
He says if the boat had gone over the dam, it would have plunged into an area with a rocky bottom where several drownings have occurred.
The man put his boat's motor in reverse but was unable to pry it away from the dam's edge.
Rescuers later retrieved his boat.
