It's getting to be about that time of year for flu shots.
Many pharmacies and doctors' offices are offering the flu shot earlier than usual this season.
One local pharmacist talks about why you should take precautions and get the vaccination. She says it's really no different than wearing sunscreen.
"You wouldn't go to the beach without using sunscreen. Don't go into flu season without getting a shot. Especially if you are suffering from lung disease, diabetes, asthma, or a type of illness that already has you in a position where if you do develop the flu, it could be very detrimental," said Hines Pharmacy Pharmacist Beth Murley.
Murley says that few people see side effects, and when they do, they almost always outweigh the effects of catching the flu itself.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says that people should receive the vaccination as soon as it is available each year.
