A former high school basketball coach in western Kentucky has pleaded guilty to unlawful transaction with a minor.
The Messenger-Inquirer reports Nathan E. Phelps, who coached girls' basketball at Ohio County High School in 2010 when he was accused by police of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl, entered the plea Thursday. The agreement calls for him to be on probation for two years.
Originally, Phelps faced a felony charge of first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, illegal sex act, victim under age 16. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor.
In addition to probation, Phelps must receive psychological counseling and cannot work at a school without getting permission from the Commonwealth Attorney's office.
