A Kentucky basketball family is mourning the loss of a former teammate tonight.

Former Pikeville College player Ewan Linton drowned Friday afternoon while swimming with friends at Breaks Interstate Park.

Linton last suited up at Pikeville in 2009, but played for the East Kentucky Energy this past season.

Just weeks ago, he graduated with a business degree.

His former coach and teammates are shocked beyond words.

"I was in shock, I said man you're lying. I just couldn't believe that someone I knew that close would drown," said Justin Hicks, a former teammate of Linton's.

"He played the same way he was. Just a high energy guy, one of the greatest teammates and greatest people you'd ever meet," said Linton's former coach at Pikeville, Kelly Wells.

Linton is survived by his wife, Heather, and a young daughter.
