Fort Campbell Pharmacy Delays Planned Cuts

Days after announcing cuts to a popular medication service, Fort Campbell's hospital is delaying that plan while the military waits to see if Congress will act to prevent automatic budget cuts.

Blanchfield Army Community Hospital announced on Wednesday that they would stop providing free over-the-counter medications to soldiers and their families and close the main pharmacy one hour early as a result of looming budget cuts.

Top military officials have been warning of dire impacts on military readiness if sequestration takes effect on March 1, which would reduce the Pentagon's budget by $46 billion through the end of September.

On Friday, the hospital said after further consideration and in anticipation of a budget passing before the deadline, they would not change the medication program and pharmacy hours.
