Fort Knox July 4 Celebration Moved Inside,Fireworks Canceled

Fort Knox - Due to Thursday’s inclement weather forecast, the Fort Knox Celebrates Freedom event and fireworks show has been canceled. A scaled down July 4 celebration will now take place at the new Sadowski Center here from 4 to 8 p.m.

The new event, dubbed the Sadowski Freedom Party, will feature free skating, games, contests, a cash bar, and live performances by 70s, 80s, and 90s Rock and Roll Cover Band Midnight Radio. Free hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches, chips and soft drinks will be available while supplies last.

All activities are free and open to the general public. The Sadowski Center is located on Wilson Rd. Off-post visitors should enter the post through the Wilson Road Gate and follow Wilson Road to the venue which will be on the right-hand side.

Overflow parking will be available in the Ireland Army Community Hospital parking lot on Wilson Road. A free shuttle service will be provided from overflow parking to the event.

The Alvaton Church of Christ has rescheduled their fireworks and festivities for Saturday at 5p.m. due to rain. The original date was Thursday. Organizers call it "the biggest show in the county." There will be food and games, and fireworks begin at dark.
