Gibert, a 51-year-old Elizabethtown resident, was a human resources specialist with the U.S. Army Human Resources Command’s Field Artillery Branch Officer Personnel Management Directorate on Fort Knox.
An employee of that command since January 2004, he also previously served in the U.S. Army as a human resources specialist.
A soldier charged in the fatal shooting of an Army civilian employee Wednesday at Fort Knox will be tried in a military court.
Marquinta Jacobs appeared in Federal court in Bowling Green this morning, a day after he was arrested in Portland, TN.
Jacobs sat silently as Judge Brent Brennenstuhl dismissed the criminal complaint without prejudice and then gave Jacobs the choice to be tried as a civilian or as a soldier.
After being advised by a federal attorney Jacobs chose to be tried in military court.
He was escorted back to Fort Knox where he will later stand trial.
