Elevated Missionary Baptist Church held a special service in ode to the man that led the American civil rights movement and helped ensure equality for every American no matter what the color of the their skin. Those in the community say that Dr. King's difference is still visible today.
"It's brought down the color barriers. Used to as a whole, we used to have segregated churches, everyone went to their own churches. Now all the churches, we're like one." said Melba Mitchell of Elevated Missionary Baptist Church.
The city of Russellville held a march in Dr. King's honor on Friday and a similar march will be held Monday morning in Bowling Green. Martin Luther King Junior Day is a national holiday and has been since 1986.
