Franklin Liquor Sales Could Bring in Tourists

Updated: Tue 2:11 AM, Aug 21, 2012

The City of Franklin recently announced it would be going wet for liquor sales within the next month, which could mean a spike in the town's revenue.

Not only would people not be leaving town to purchase alcohol, the Franklin Tourism Commission says more travelers off the interstate may choose to stop in Franklin.

"Our motel operators say that some of their guests ask about the availability of liquor stores and how close they are. So, I think that the availability of liquor here in Franklin would probably have a significant positive effect on the tourism business," says Franklin Tourism Commission Director, Dan Ware.

Ware says while the City of Franklin will allow the sale of alcohol in city limits, the city ordinance does not allow liquor stores in the downtown area.
