23-year-old Trent Buchanan died Sunday morning from what coroners say was a single gun shot wound.
"About 4:30 in the morning we got a phone call that there was a body in the movie theater parking lot on Industrial Drive," says Public Information Officer, Ronnie Ward, with the Bowling Green Police Department.
Police are still investigating the situation, however evidence suggests there was no foul play involved.
"Our number one priority is public safety," says Ward, "if we felt there was a risk to the public, in relationship to this case, we would certainly let you know."
Eric Jones, one of Buchanan's best friends says he spoke to Trent the night before he died.
"We had been talking that night, we were talking about joining the gym together ...I said alright and he would make time to do it ... it was midnight, he was working, then I woke up to this," says Jones.
Buchanan leaves behind and his wife Shannon, and a one month old baby girl Kenzie, who was born two months premature.
"Kenzie was life flighted to Vanderbilt," says Jones, when she was born, "she's undergone several surgeries. They had one today, they're going to push it back, but they're just trying to get her healthy so she can get home."
The investigation remains open.
"We're going to miss him. Even though he's gone we're not going to forget about him," says Jones.
A fund has been set up in memory of Trent.
Anyone can donate to BB&T Bank Branches in Bowling Green.
Friends say the fund number is 6352 and the money will go to help his daughter's health.
