The event's purpose is to raise money for Warren Central high School student Zach Haley, 17, who was diagnosed with bone cancer in August of last year. Though the weather outside may not have been exactly frozen, some last minute additions were made to create a chillier atmosphere.
"We have coffee for those that think it is cold. We're going to pretend that it's cold and we actually have some popsicles for some after race snacks. We basically say don't wear a lot of clothes and make it cold." said Lilly Thomas of Trax Running.
Zach has to receive treatment at Vanderbilt hospital once a week for his Ewing Sarcoma. He's currently in the middle of his chemo therapy and is scheduled to be finished in June.
