Gov. Beshear Opens Healthcare Kiosk in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Governor Steve Beshear was in Bowling Green Wednesday to open up a "Kynect kiosk at the Barren River District Health Department.

Governor Beshear says more than 11,000 applications are in the system for affordable healthcare.

He says Wednesday marks a change in the health of Kentuckians and that it's about time a change like this happened.

"For the first time ever, every American will have an opportunity to be covered like most people in other parts of the world are. I just got back from an economic development trip in Europe. They're all looking at us and saying you mean you all are just now providing healthcare for your citizens. They all have it in one form or another and it's time we catch up," said Gov. Steve Beshear, D-Kentucky.

Critics of the new healthcare law question the financial stability of it and Beshear's Medicaid expansion.
