A $500,000 grant will help construct a new volunteer fire station in Clinton County to replace a facility that's too small.
A statement from Gov. Steve Beshear's office says the new building will improve fire department response times.
The new 6,500-square-foot station will be at a central location in Albany and will have two large truck bays, a kitchen and training rooms.
The current facility is too small to house the department's equipment and vehicles, so they are kept at other sites. The fire department serves about 4,300 households in Clinton County.
The $500,000 Community Development Block Grant will supplement a $100,000 investment by the city. Upon completion of the facility, the city will own, operate and maintain the new fire station.
