Grants Available to Make Arts More Accessible

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The Kentucky Arts Council has some grants available to help increase access to the arts for people with limited opportunities.

AAA Grants support arts programs in areas where age, geographic location, ethnicity, economic status, disability or other factors make enjoying the arts more challenging. Applications are being taken for programs for people age 65 or older.

The council previously awarded more than $50,000 to six organizations this year. In central Kentucky, Fine Arts Bardstown Society and local advocates offered free classes for people 65 and older at different levels in watercolor, pastels and mosaic.

Organizations eligible to apply include public libraries, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and social service agencies, as well as others.

For more information, contact Arts Access Program Director Sarah Schmitt at or (888) 833-2787, ext. 492.
