Green Flag For Mini Corvette Challenge Draws Near

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Business leaders are preparing to jump behind the wheel and put the pedal to the metal.

The 19th annual Junior Achievement Mini Corvette Challenge takes the green flag Saturday, April 20. On Thursday teams drew numbers to receive their engines for the big race. Over the next few weeks the track will be put together and teams will begin to deliver their cars.

Organizers say the event isn't just a relaxing afternoon drive.

"The folks that come out they are racing like they are in NASCAR. They get very competitive. They have to do a driver change during the race and a tire change so it makes it a little competitive. They are not just driving around in a circle," says President Heather Rogers.

Since 1995 the race has raised more then $500,000 for Junior Achievement. The event is free and open to the public. It will once again be held at the National Corvette Museum.
