ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- Some members of the Kentucky National Guard and the state FFA are getting together Wednesday in Elizabethtown to share information in addressing global food issues.
The Guard's Agribusiness Development Team 5 is training for deployment to Afghanistan in December.
The team will visit a local FFA chapter garden is that is part of the National FFA "Food for All" initiative.
The Guard says in a statement that the participants will review plant culture, irrigation techniques and strategies for food production with sessions on beekeeping, school gardening and irrigation alternatives.
They also plan short field trips on goat production practices, food preservation workshops and home poultry production.
