Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks says police killed the shooter in a gunfight in a library at the college.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) -- Police in Santa, Monica, Calif., say they aren't absolutely convinced yet that a gunman who killed six people acted alone.

The carnage started at a burned out house where two people were shot dead, and a woman outside was wounded.

Police say two more were killed, as the gunman moved several blocks toward the campus of Santa Monica College where he opened fire, killing two more on campus.

Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks says police killed the shooter in a gunfight in a library at the college. Seabrooks says the gunman was 25 to 30 years old and dressed all in black, wearing what appeared to be a ballistic jacket.

The campus was searched for a second shooter, and a man dressed entirely in black, with the words "Life is a Gamble" on the back of his sweatshirt. He was seen being taken into custody by law enforcement officers. He did not appear to be wounded.

Three women with gunshot wounds were admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. One died, another was in surgery, and the third was in serious condition but doing well. Three other women went to UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica with relatively minor injuries.

As the rampage was taking place, President Barack Obama was attending a fundraising luncheon about 3 miles away. The Secret Service was aware.
