A Hancock County man was arrested Thursday on charges relating to child pornography after Kentucky State Police say they received a complaint from Hancock County School officials.
Trevor Kade Wilcox, 18, is charged with ten counts of Promoting a Minor under 16 in Sex Performance and 75 counts of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor.
Wilcox, who is a Hancock County High School student, was arrested without incident at his Hawesville residence after Kentucky State Police performed a forensic exam of his iPad.
The Kentucky State Police ICAC Task Force launched an investigation into the possession and promoting of images of child sexual exploitation from Wilcox’s school assigned iPad.
KSP says the investigation began when officials from Hancock County High School confiscated his iPad. The tablet, which belonged to Hancock County High School, was held because of suspected illegal activity.
School authorities then notified the Kentucky State Police ICAC Task Force and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives say they seized evidence that was being used to distribute child pornography and taken to the Kentucky State Police forensic laboratory for further examination.
He was in the Breckenridge County Jail, but has been released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
