Harlan County Sheriff's Office Being Audited

A "surprise cash county of drug monies" was performed by the auditor's office on July 3. According to a report, the audit says the sheriff's office can't account for nearly $40,0000 that was supposed to be earmarked for undercover drug buys. Harlan County Sheriff Marvin Lipfird responded in the audit by saying as soon as the matter was brought to his attention, he went to state police to ask for an investigation. He says he had "just dismissed an employee for theft.".
